Recently, Windermere Real Estate Southern California participated in the inaugural Gregg D. Spierling Memorial Golf Tournament, put on by the California Desert Association of Realtors (CDAR), as a sponsor of the event and by sending a competitive team, comprised of Justin Fields, Robin Harmon, Diane Pennington, and Dean Wartelle, to test their skills on the links. The team’s combined score, 12 under par and net 53, was good for 5th place, and each member enjoyed the experience and admirably represented Windermere.
Justin Fields was recruited by Managing Broker Don Rossignol to join the team. “It was a huge honor to represent the number one real estate company in the Coachella Valley,” states Justin. “I met a lot of people that I had interacted with over the phone or through emails. It was nice to put a face to a name and enjoy an afternoon golfing together. The networking opportunities were great as well; everyone was there to have a good time and participate for an even better cause.”
Although relatively new to the industry and to Windermere, Robin Harmon was asked to play by Managing Broker Charlie White. “I was flattered that Charlie asked me to represent Windermere, especially since he had never seen me play,” Robin says. “I loved how friendly everyone in this industry is, and that showed at the tournament. Being new, people were very positive and offered great words of encouragement to me. Our industry truly is one giant family and I am happy to be a member of it.” Overall, Robin had a great experience, and was proud to have knocked in a couple of very important putts.
For the second year in a row, Diane Pennington represented Windermere in the CDAR golf tournament. Charlie White also asked her to play. “This year was a great experience and we had a very good team,” adds Diane. “It was nice to have been asked to participate twice, and I appreciate Charlie’s faith in me not only as a golfer, but also as someone who is worthy of representing Windermere. The event was a great tribute to Gregg’s legacy and I am proud to have played in it.”
Dean Wartelle, a member of Team Monterey, was asked by Managing Broker Dean Foster to tee it up for Windermere. “I was surprised and honored, out of all of our agents who play golf, to be asked to represent Windermere,” says Dean Wartelle. “We all had a great time. Even though we were all meeting for the first time, we jelled well together and quickly became a strong team.”
Even though they were not victorious in the event, every member of the team was thankful to Windermere for sponsoring the tournament, and for having the chance to play. The team that won the tournament, with an incredible net score of 45, went home with the Gregg D. Spierling blue and white checkered flag, signaling the start of a new tradition and a prized trophy in the Coachella Valley golf circuit. “That flag is going to be like owning a Master’s jacket someday,” joked Justin.
“We are proud to sponsor the Inaugural Gregg D. Spierling Memorial Golf Tournament,” says Bob Deville, Co-Owner of Windermere Real Estate Southern California. “Our team played very well and, even better, represented our brokerage in the best way possible with exceptional sportsmanship, camaraderie, and professionalism. Congratulations to Justin, Robin, Diane, and Dean on a job well done and an excellent score.”
