Windermere Real Estate SoCal is getting into the spirit of giving this holiday season with enough philanthropic activity to fill Santa’s Sleigh and then some. Up and down the coast from San Diego to Orange County, Windermere SoCal agents, brokers, and staff are celebrating the holidays while brightening the lives of others in their communities.
According to Sandi Richardson, Managing Broker, the Laguna Niguel and Laguna Beach branches will hold a combined holiday potluck on December 16th, featuring a community twist. In addition to bringing a holiday dish to share, all agents will come with an unwrapped toy and canned goods in hand. The toys will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove, which serves Orange County, and the canned goods will be distributed to the Food Bank of Laguna Beach.
In San Diego, each branches in the county has a box collecting toys and non-perishable canned goods. The collected items are part of the San Diego Association of Realtors (SDAR) Ambassadors Foundation Holiday House Charity Drive, benefiting Wounded Warrior Homes, The Angel’s Depot, YWCA of San Diego County, Homefront San Diego, and Second Chance. Every office’s box has been filled, capping another successful holiday drive endeavoring to make everyone’s holiday season magical.
Kirk Gregor, Managing Broker, and Realtors® Rosemary Snow and Meghan Riva put the final touches on a wonderful 2014 for the Sunburst Youth Housing Project, supportive housing through The San Diego LGBT Community Center with a focus on LGBTQ+ youth 18 to 24 years of age. All three sit on the board for the project and help put together the three fundraisers held throughout the year, with the last one, Harvest Howl, occurring in late October. Through the events, over $71,000 was raised to support youth housing. It costs an average of $12,000 per person per year to live in the home. The success rate of the home in placing kids into society and getting them back on their feet is 96%. The next fundraiser is in February of 2015.
