USS Midway Legacy Week 2018 Celebrates San Diego’s Military Heritage

USS Midway Legacy Week 2018 displays San Diego’s deep military roots at the USS Midway Museum. Starting Saturday, May 26^th, and running through Memorial Day on Monday, May 28^th, the restored aircraft carrier is hosting several events to remember our fallen heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Planned Legacy Week activities include a wreath ceremony, a Freedom Concert featuring Gin Blossoms, an Adventure Discovery Zone, Meet the Aviators, and a blood drive.

The wreath ceremony takes place Saturday, May 26^th, at 9am, featuring a fly over, special speakers, retired veterans, and tossing of wreaths over the ship. Even better, this event is free, with admission to the museum granted to those in attendance of the wreath ceremony. Also occurring on Saturday at 6pm is the Freedom Concert. All proceeds from this charity event go toward local military non-profit organizations.

The Adventure Discovery Zone runs all weekend and is a fun, hands-on learning experience, including special exhibits, military equipment, demonstrations, and more. In addition to this unique feature, Meet the Aviators and the Planes They Flew, on Sunday, May 27^th, gives the public an opportunity to talk to pilots who will be stationed at each aircraft on the ship and ask questions about the firsthand flight experience of that particular craft.
