Catch a Wave at the 56^th International Surf Festival

The 56^th International Surf Festival rides into Manhattan Beach Wednesday, August 1st, and runs Friday, August 3^rd through Sunday August 5^th, bringing with it a litany of exciting events and competitions. This annual event is put on by beachsport.org, the Chambers of Commerce and Cities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Los Angeles County Fire Department, and Department of Beaches and Harbors, and is a non-profit 501(c)(4) corporation.

With over a dozen events planned, the 56^th International Surf Festival packs a ton of action into a 4-day extravaganza. Popular events include the Judge Taplin Lifeguard Medley Relay, the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim, and the Charley Saikley 6-Man Volleyball Tournament. Other events include surfing contests, bodysurfing contests, paddleboard races, beach runs, and youth races. Participants come from far and wide to compete, traditionally including an international lifeguard team from Victoria, Australia to compete in the Wieland Shield.
