Windermere Real Estate Southern California is proud to congratulate David Tallman who was recently recognized with a 2013 Community Service Award by the City of Palm Springs’ Human Rights Commission. The ceremony took place at the City Council Chamber of the Palm Springs City Hall on January 13^th. David was recognized for the JUST PANCAKES breakfast that he and his family have been providing every Sunday morning for almost 2 years to help feed the local hungry and homeless.

A member of the United Methodist Church of Palm Springs where the Sunday breakfast is hosted, David was inspired by a challenge from his Pastor. At the time, the church and its members were volunteering and raising funds and supplies to help the homeless in Joshua Tree. When the question came up of what they could do to help even more locally, David realized that he already cooked pancakes for his family every Sunday morning. “So I asked myself, why can’t I just make pancakes at church every Sunday?” said David.

This April, David, his family, many fellow church members and volunteers will have been serving the Sunday pancake breakfast for 2 years. What started out as feeding a handful of people has grown to a crowd averaging 50-60 individuals, including many children, whom are poor and many are homeless. As of Tuesday, January 7^th, with the help of friend and fellow congregant, Timothy Griffin, JUST PANCAKES is now serving a free breakfast on Sundays and Tuesdays.

A founding member of his church’s Social Justice Team, David Tallman has been a Realtor® in the Coachella Valley for 11 years. For the past 9 years, David has been a Broker Associate with Windermere Real Estate Southern California and is one of the on-site sales agents at The Springs Country Club in Rancho Mirage. Originally from Seattle, David migrated to the Coachella Valley for the weather and natural beauty of the desert. A strong supporter of community causes, David has also volunteered his time and financial support for the Desert Music Academy, a charitable organization created to provide low or no-cost music lessons for students between the ages of 5 and 18.
