Michael Peet-Paduano Appointed by Rancho Mirage City Council to Rancho Mirage Housing Commission

Michael Peet-Paduano, a REALTOR® with the Bennion Deville Homes Palm Desert San Pablo office, was recently appointed to the Rancho Mirage Housing Commission by the Rancho Mirage City Council. After undergoing a lengthy application and interview process with the City Council, Michael was one of the lucky appointees selected to serve a one-year term.

“This is a great opportunity to play a greater role in serving our community and creating a positive impact in the lives of others,” Michael says. “I am honored to be able to work closely with my peers on the Housing Commission and with city staff to utilize our collective backgrounds and resources to direct decisions and create affordable housing opportunities in Rancho Mirage.”

As a real estate professional, Michael has always aligned himself with organizations, both at the state and local levels, to make a greater impact on the housing industry. “Throughout my career, I have been encouraged to participate with roles on various boards, here in the Coachella Valley and also at the state level with the California Association of REALTORS®. Giving back by serving in a greater capacity is important to me because I get to help shape the direction of the cause and ensure there is accountability to the people we serve.”

The Rancho Mirage Housing Commission is a natural fit for Michael because of his professional expertise in real estate and passion for serving others. “The Housing Commission is important because it shines a light on an important cause that is very relevant in our region – affordable housing. Although Rancho Mirage, and the Coachella Valley at large, features a ton of luxury homes and some very well-off residents, there is still a large segment of the population that is living on a fixed income. Advocating to keep affordable housing options available for this part of the population is critical, and I welcome the challenge of helping amplify the voice of the residents we serve by advising the committee on these important issues and making sure their needs aren’t ignored.”

As a member of the Housing Commission, Michael will attend regular quarterly meetings and address a variety of critical decisions, such as rent levels and upgrades to the residences, including the installation of solar and fresh paint. Additionally, he will tour the properties and explore other projects with the City that impact affordable housing. “One of the biggest topics I will be covering is researching what qualifies as ‘affordable’ based on the current cost of living around the Coachella Valley and working with the Commission and the City to address any changes within the budget.”

Serving on the Housing Commission is purely a passion pursuit for Michael and comes from a genuine place within his heart. “Community service is something a lot of people think about but don’t act on, and I think any citizen who is interested in serving their local community or an organization should make the time to help out and have fun pursuing their passions in the process. I don’t volunteer my time and expertise for ego or glamour, I do it to serve my community with integrity and to make my community a better place to live.”

Adds Bob Deville, Co-Owner of Bennion Deville Homes, “We are very proud of Michael’s appointment to serve on the Rancho Mirage Housing Commission. His involvement with community organizations and industry boards is exemplary and we commend him for taking the time to champion a cause that is critical to the quality of life for so many of our residents in the Coachella Valley and within the City of Rancho Mirage. We wish Michael the best of luck serving out the remainder of his tenure on the Housing Commission and look forward to seeing the exceptional results he produces with his colleagues.”
