Modernism Week Show House Listed with Windermere Real Estate

Modernism Show Home for sale Windermere

Windermere Real Estate Southern California is pleased to announce the listing of the celebrity designer Christopher Kennedy’s 2014 Modernism Week Show House for sale. The 2014 Show House is one of the latest homes to be accepted into Windermere’s A+D Properties program, the newest property feature program that Windermere has launched to focus on the growing demand for homes that embody architecturally significant design and restoration and/or historical provenance.

Kennedy created the Show House as a fundraiser benefiting Modernism Week and other local architectural preservation efforts. He enlisted the participation of nine of the nation’s top interior designers and more than sixty local, national and international brand partners to create the ultimate Palm Springs remodel in the tony Indian Canyons neighborhood of South Palm Springs.

The home was open for public tours and special events during Modernism Week. More than 4,000 modernists visited the property, enabling Kennedy to reach his goal of generating $100,000 in ticket sales for Modernism. The Hollywood Reporter named the Show House as the #1 Must Experience Event of Modernism Week 2014.

Kennedy says the remodel of the four-bedroom, five-bath “electronic smart home” is valued at over $750,000 including more than $450,000 in construction materials and fixtures from high-end, luxury resources from around the globe.

“This is the ultimate Palm Springs remodel that effectively blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor living,” explains Kennedy. “We incorporated more than $40,000 in movable glass walls from LaCantina Doors. Every space in the house has been opened up to the exterior – revealing gorgeous mountain views – and taking full advantage of the many outdoor living spaces. We pushed the design envelope with our four master bedrooms – creating luxury guest retreats that rival the best five-star resort accommodations. Each en-suite bathroom features tens of thousands of dollars in artistic tile and plumbing fixtures from luxury brand names like Crossville, Neo-Metro and Gessi.”

The $130,000 kitchen remodel features imported product from Aran Cucine, the world’s largest selling Italian cabinetry company, a top of the line appliance package from Thermador, Bosch and Whirlpool, and the latest in quartz countertops from Cosentino out of Spain.

“The home is truly a marvel,” says listing agent John-Patrick Flynn of Windermere’s Palm Springs South office. “Christopher brought in some of the world’s top interior designers. He connected them with the latest and greatest building materials and fixtures on the market today. Then he provided them with an iconic 1970s pedigreed home in which to work their magic. No expense was spared. The result is breathtaking – and so very Palm Springs. This isn’t just a remodel. It is a creative masterpiece of design, architecture and technology that meets the expectations of the Palm Springs luxury home buyer.”

The home will be featured in an upcoming issue of Luxe Interiors + Design magazine.
