Since 1946, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has been providing emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in developing countries.  Patrice Healy’s fifth grade class at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in La Quinta designed and constructed a one-of-a-kind quilt which they planned to auction and donate the proceeds through UNICEF.  The quilt represents what each of the 39 students envisioned might be a home in a particular part of the world.
So the class completed their personalized work of art and when it was finished, offered it at auction…and with Valery Neuman’s $500 contribution to UNICEF, the quilt found its own ‘Home Sweet Home.’

Valery: “I’m completely thrilled with my beautiful quilt!  Not only is it a piece of art in its own right; it represents the love and dedication of a great group of children who are already learning at a very early age the joy brought by helping others.”
