Windermere Real Estate Southern California congratulates their agents John Burge, C.R. Silva, John Cyr and Jim Webb as well as Managing Broker David Cantwell for their election to the 2013 Board of Directors at the Palm Springs Regional Association of Realtors®. “These gentlemen are to be commended for taking on these volunteer positions that evolve the processes, tools and technologies that benefit every agent in our industry,” said Chris Anderson, Managing Broker at Windermere’s Palm Springs South office, where John Burge, John Cyr and Jim Webb work.

John Burge, who served as the President-Elect in 2012, will serve as President for 2013. “It is an exciting time to be serving as President. 2012 was a difficult year at the Board and in the market as well but we are excited about the progress we have made. Now, we are just days away from the launch of our new MLS system and are preparing for the 5% market increase as projected by CAR (California Association of Realtors®),” shared John.

C.R. Silva, like Burge, has previous experience working with the Board. Silva served as the Board Treasurer in 1993, in 2003 and then again stepping into the role mid-2012. He will be the Treasurer for 2013, as well having served over 8 years on various committees including Local Government Relations, Professional Standards and the MLS.

David Cantwell, Managing Broker at Windermere Palm Springs Main, has served for the last 15 years as a Director on the Board.  A former Board President, CAR Regional Chair and member of the Strategic Planning and Finance committees, David’ service to the board and the local industry has led to him being named Realtor of the Year twice. “Our decisions to move forward with the new MLS system is just one of the ways that we see ourselves advancing the technology of the local real estate market in the upcoming year.”

Those technological advances were one of the motivating factors that convinced John Cyr that it was time to serve at the Board. John’s election to Director for 2013 marks his first work with the Board where he “wanted to help continue the momentum I saw unfolding with the change in the board’s leadership.”

Jim Webb also joins the Board as a first time Director, having previously served on the MLS committee since 2008 as well as serving as Chair of the Grievance Committee in 2012. Jim will also serve this year as the CAR Regional Director for local Region 28. Jim’s comments resonate with the same timbre and excitement as his fellow Board members shared. “With the recovery of stability at the Board, I felt like it was the proper time to augment my committee work and am honored to be serving as a Director this next year.”

The 2013 Board will be installed at the close of their annual awards presentation on Tuesday, November 13th at the Riviera Palm Springs Resort and Spa.
