Windermere agents are well-known for their contributions of time and effort to local charities and community programs, and they jumped feet first into Windermere’s most anticipated annual Community Service event.
Each year in October, the act of sharing and supporting those experiencing tough times in the Coachella Valley is focused upon one very special event for all 16 Windermere Coachella Valley offices: Windermere Community Service Day. This year’s theme was ‘Winter Wear Roundup.’ Agents and offices spent weeks planning for the 2010 event.
This year agents collected and donated usable clothing to some of the Valley’s homeless. Windermere worked hand-in-glove with two highly respected community service charities – Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) of Indio, and Roy’s Desert Resource Center (RDRC) of Palm Springs – in offering support to those who will face true hardship this winter. Both Roy’s Desert Resource Center and Coachella Valley Rescue Mission work year-round to offer resources, shelter and clothing to help get clients back on their feet; for many, this support offers a critical opportunity to regain control of their lives.
CVRM figures show that children and families make up the fastest growing segment of the homeless population; the average homeless child in this country is 6 years old. RDRC notes their clients require a broad range of services in order to return to self-sufficiency and regain independence and financial security; among those services is one of the most basic: clothing. Windermere agents delivered boxes of hats, scarves, coats and blankets to both locations on Friday, October 29.
Windermere is proud of its agents for their support of Roy’s Desert Resource Center and Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, as well as many other community aid organizations throughout the Coachella Valley.
