New Year’s Personal Best Virtual Race

This online running event offers courses of varying length and allows you to choose the course. Record your time and distance using a pre-approved app and see how you compare with the rest of the participants.
Runners also receive a packet with virtual tools, including access to custom gear from the race organizer’s Etsy shop, race training plans, a custom race bib, certificate of completion, and the chance to enter the custom backdrop contest, among other things. Celebrate your love of nature through film with the Wild and Scenic Film Festival, an 11-day virtual festival experience, organized by the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL). Hear from talented filmmakers, activists, social innovators, and more in addition to watching over 100 works about a variety of topics, all live- streamed on your device.
SYRCL was formed in 1983 as a grassroots effort to stop the creation of dams along the South Yuba River. The movement grew and accomplished its goal of preserving the waterway. Each year since 2002 SYRCL has organized the Wild and Scenic Film Festival as a way to celebrate nature and call attention to other causes both nationally and abroad.

Winter Online Old Time Banjo Festival

Whether you are looking to learn how to play the banjo, are an expert, or simply love the instrument, the Winter Online Old Time Banjo Festival promises a rollicking good time. With a packed line up of workshops put on by expert players and virtuoso performances, there is something for all banjo lovers, and pickers, at this live-streamed event.
Tickets are available for purchase at $125 for the full weekend, or you can purchase a la carte workshop tickets if that’s more your style. All of the workshops will be archived for future viewing by paid registrants, so you can review and relive the tips and techniques imparted by these master musicians.
